Curriculum Development Workshop May 10-13, 2010

The first AMTEC Curriculum Development Workshop is scheduled for May 10-13, 2010 in Georgetown, Kentucky.  The selected developers from partner community colleges, industry, and United Auto Workers will begin their collaborative work on creating a  national AMTEC systems approach curriculum for the automotive industry at 12:00 noon at the Hilton Garden Inn in Georgetown.  On Tuesday participants will meet at Toyota's North American Production Support Center (NAPSC) and Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC).  Workshop attendees will tour the model classroom and observe a demonstration of the online curriculum currently being created by the Industrial Maintenance Technology Program at Bluegrass Community and Technical College -- Georgetown. Participants will learn how to develop a competency-based, mastery learning, blended online curriculum, certified through a quality assurance process, based on promising practices in use by KCTCS Online. Once completed this curriculum will include assessments based on national skill standards and will offer students the ability to obtain a nationally-recognized AMTEC certification upon successful completion.

Digital content providers will exhibit their products to the course developers at the Hilton Garden Inn on Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.  This collection of several content providers will give the developers the opportunity to review and compare the most up-to-date learning digital content.

Wednesday and Thursday will consist of actual team work sessions.
